This course is designed to help photographers create portraits that feel natural, confident, and visually polished through effective lighting and posing. Whether you’re photographing clients, friends, or family, understanding how to shape light and guide your subject can dramatically improve your results.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of portrait lighting, including how light direction, quality, and placement affect mood and facial features. Topics include natural light vs. studio light, soft and dramatic lighting styles, basic lighting patterns, and using simple modifiers for flattering results.
The course also covers posing techniques for individuals, focusing on body angles, hand placement, posture, and expressions that help subjects look relaxed and confident. With demonstrations, guided practice, and real-world tips, this course emphasizes practical techniques you can use immediately. By the end of the class, you’ll have a solid understanding of how to combine lighting and posing to create portraits that feel authentic, well-lit, and professional—using minimal gear and any camera system.
